More contact sheet fun. This is Ian Davis with a huge transfer under the covered halls of ye old Carmel High School, circa 1989. Those Midwestern winters would have been much longer had we not been allowed to skate there.

I’ve been scanning old contact sheets, and this grungy role of skating from downtown Indianapolis looked so cool. The stop bath and fixer are still visible on the paper, and have given it subtle color over the years (this sheet is from around 1989). I was a total slob in the darkroom – a teenage skater working with chemicals in the dark is never a good idea.

Oh, and I’m pretty sure that is Andrew Wood popping off a concrete ledge.

Popping a 50-50 off the end of the rail.

This kid is getting good, and his name is Chris Thul.
You can check him out on YouTube, or see some stills here.
Here is a scrap image that’s been tweaked a little bit.

This shot of Jordan was taken in October 2006 in Mount Pleasant, SC.
Alas, my fibula is broken after a 50-50 to fakie went awry the other day at the skatepark. I probably won’t post much this month as I have cut out non-essential netivity. We should all be out pressing leaves and drinking cider anyway. Enjoy!

Huge, confident frontside 50 all the way across the four-foot mini at The Ice Palace.

I had a blast skating with this kid, a 14-year-old from near Arlington, Virginia. He said he normally skated a large bowl at his local park, and he had the chops to back it up. He made a meal of the mini ramps, and didn’t stop until he locked up on the six-foot mini and landed face first in the flat. It was really great skating a ramp with a younger kid – he’s the first in recent memory that could put together a great line.
Here’s a quick video of Steven I threw together last night. The footage is from both Indianapolis and Columbus. Check out a post-McSqueeb Steven shred a picnic table and bust out the goodies during an N-Orbit contest run.

I cobbled together this composite of Austen hitting the funbox on Go Skateboarding Day.

There are very few things more enjoyable than watching other people fall, especially when they are doing it for fun. Enjoy this collection of Skateboarding slams, captured in the late 80s.
