Morning in Vancouver
Posted on May 30th, 2007 by Chad Norman
I’m on the 23rd floor of the Wall Center, and this is my view from this morning. Other than the mountains, skyscrapers, sunset at 11 p.m., and ever-present metric system, it’s just like Charleston! I have to work for the next three days, but I can’t wait to get out and shoot on Saturday.

Just a nice 50-50 down the rail.

Cone Ollie

Jay Meyer, 2007.
20 years ago, being able to ollie a cone meant the same thing it does today…you’ve got mad chops. This shot gets deeper when you find out Jay broke his arm clean through just a couple months ago, and had two surgeries and 8 pins put in. Now that’s hardcore.

Caught just before wood hits meta at the Mount Pleasant Skatepark.

I Was Foggy, Rather Groggy
Posted on May 17th, 2007 by Chad Norman
It’s not fog, it’s smoke! And it’s back?!?!
What gives…this is so weird. It’s not suppose to look like this at 5 p.m. It’s suppose to be clear and delicious. Instead, look at these shots from 526. The first one is looking down the Wando River at the Ravanel Bridge. You can’t see anything but a little bit of Danial Island on the right. It looks like a morning commute in December, not an afternoon rush hour in May. So it goes…

Downtown Wanderings
Posted on May 17th, 2007 by Chad Norman
When Spoleto rolls around, I always get a little nostalgic for those days of aimlessly wandering around downtown without a care kid in the world. I saw this shot today while browsing my hard drive and vowed to hit the peninsula for at least one event this year. So, that’s that.

The Oakleafs are Going Nuts!
Posted on May 8th, 2007 by Chad Norman

When I read that pruning Oakleaf Hydrangeas was wrong, I didn’t really know what to think. I had always cut back common hydrangeas, so natch I did the same thing when I got these Oakleafs a couple years ago. And besides, I didn’t really mind - the foliage was beautiful in both summer and fall.
Then I read that you aren’t supposed to prune them, so I didn’t.
Then I waited…
And this spring, something remarkable happened. These puppies bloomed like nobody’s business! It’s been a slow bloom too, so it looks like I’ll have flowers for a couple months. Needless to say, I’m stoked about this. This is a hardy plant that does well in climates like ours, and is anything but high-maintenance.
Anyhoo, enjoy the pics.
Three Year Old Googler

I was going through my browser history trying to find something, when I ran across a Google entry with my son’s name on it. When I opened the page, it became clear what had happened. Apparently he’s taken up egosurfing, and was googling his own name!

OK, so he entered a little more than just his name, but still - what a clown.
