Public PSP Use :: Waiting Made Easy
Posted on May 17th, 2005 by Chad Norman
I’ve had my PSP since launch (about 6 weeks ago), and it already seems like an eternity. How did I ever live without this thing? I’ve definitely started playing games more often, but the real gain is all the fun I’m having waiting in public places. 20 minutes until my table’s ready?…it’s NBA Street time! I can’t believe I used to just people-watch or read grimey, picked-over magazines.
Where the PSP has come in handy:
The Department of Motor Vehicles
Jersey Mike’s Subs
Jiffy Lube
Delta Airlines
Palmetto Grande Theater
Traffic Jam
Dr. Gardener, DDS
Cincinnati Airport
Bank of America
Pizza Hut
Orlando’s Pizza
The reactions of people are great…they all want to know what it is, what games I have, what else it does, etc. Hopefully more people will be carrying soon, as I yet to have a impromptu head-to-head game with a stranger. So charge that PSP, haul it around at all times, and I’ll see you at the DMV!
Top 5 Geographic Band Names of All-time
Posted on May 13th, 2005 by Chad Norman
Possibly the biggest decision a band can make is coming up with a name. While a geographic moniker may seem limiting, there have been some successes. Some bands name themselves after their hometown, while others just think exotic locales make for sweet looking marquees. Either way, there have been some sweat ones…here are the top 5:
- Chicago
- Boston
- Kansas
- Asia
- America
- The Six Spot: Europe, Alabama, Miami Sound Machine, New York Dolls, LA Guns, Georgia Satellites
Recruiting Stand-down has been Ordered
Posted on May 11th, 2005 by Chad Norman
I love the fact that when the US military is having trouble recruiting citizens into it’s ranks, it responds by ‘shutting down recruiting operations’. That would be like GM having a bad quarter and deciding to shut-down the assembly lines for a week — probably not a good idea. When reading the article, I was more shocked that we have 7,500 full time recruiters, and 1,700 offices! Really? It takes 7,500 people to ‘recruit’ for a volunteer military? Mabye if some of those government-payrolled recruiters would join the fighting ranks, the shortage would be less of an issue. And then there’s the 1,700 offices. My god, there are only 974 Denny’s Restaurants. Only 1,220 Hampton Inns. Only 1,293 Fantastic Sams. We need 1,700 recruiting offices? This rant is going nowhere fast, but I hope you see my point. If you do, please let me know what it is…
